Mental Health in Women: Understanding the Impact and Building Resilience

Mental health is a critical and very important issue that disproportionately impacts women in Indian society at every stage of life starting from childhood to adolescence and spanning adulthood.   There are various factors that can affect mental health in women.   It can be due to biological factors, life experiences, family history, life style, etc.

Positive Mental Health

Positive mental health deals with overall psychological well being and ability to cope with life challenges.  It involves feeling good about oneself, to maintain healthy relationships, and being able to function effectively in daily life. 

Contemporary Challenges: Cyberbullying and Psychosocial Risks

For example, nowadays, woman are experiencing cyber bullying and harassment ultimately leading to anxiety, stress, and depression.  Online Scammers use WhatsApp to build fraudulent emotional connections with victims often by sharing personal stories, or by showing fake interest in their lives.  This is leading to a lot of problems in modern day present society.  Additionally, gender inequality, discrimination, body shaming, and low self esteem are some of the psychosocial risk factors that  affect women.

Strategies for Mental Well-being

To all those suffering deep inside, pushing those feelings to the back of your mind and  the bottom of your heart, one needs to keep on living.   Please remember that no matter how distant your future may seem, no matter how distant love may seem it will always be there.  Never lose hope. It is not easy.  Women must possess the self belief  that she is not a rock in a sea of chaos, and cannot be knocked around by every storm that comes her way.

 

Building Resilience and Overcoming Challenges

Just like physical health,  mental health is something that all  should care for every day of our lives.  The capacity to withstand or to recover quickly from difficulties commences by   improving our  thoughts, and general outlook.   Every person should be careful to regularly t  tend to their minds in addition to their bodies.   A few useful  steps in the daily routine include positive self-talk, celebrating small wins, and surrounding yourself with supporting people.  These measures will help boost self-confidence.

Moreover, developing self-confidence is an important part of mental health and well-being.  The ability to bounce back from setbacks, learn from mistakes and keep going forward is a key aspect of resilience.  Persevering through difficulties whether personal or professional requires courage, determination, and belief in one’s own capabilities.  Staying focussed on goals and celebrating progress can help to sustain a positive mindset.   

Facing fears and difficulties with bravery requires courage.  Believing in ones own abilities and skills is very much important.   Self-worth serves as the foundation of confidence, as it allows you to navigate throughout difficulties and provide the flexibility to adapt.

Believing you can overcome any challenges is the most important aspect.” I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to Become.” Strength is the ability not to surrender, as one confronts the storms of hardships in one’s life.

Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful. Positive mental health is a state of well-being that enables individuals to cope with life’s challenges.
