- How you describe your own Personality and Persona.
Ans.I am Kiran Shobha, a B.Tech-Computer Science graduate, working since last 10 years as a software developer and consultant. I am 32 years old, mother of a 7.5 year old lovely boy. I have been married for 8.5 years now. Raised in the strongly knit, highly diversified boundaries of Indian Air Force, I feel proud in being called an Indian. Being a witness of varied culture and ethics, I respect people for what they are. I have grown to be confident with a go-getter attitude. Hard work and honesty are a part of my existence. The hunger to learn something new each day just never seem to die in me. I believe, a day without learning is a day wasted. I am someone with varied interests but reading and travelling interest me the most. I am also passionate about training dogs. I am appreciated for my time management skills as I manage to find time for everything I want to do. I am a yoga practitioner since years as I believe a healthy body and a healthy mind go hand in hand.
- Your achievements that make you feel high?
Ans.Raised by highly motivating, supportive and ambitious parents, winning became a part of my life since my early childhood. Getting the medals and trophies were once counted as my achievements and made me fly on the seventh sky. But, it was only later in the life that I learnt what real achievement is. Achievement is not something which you could show case, it is something with gives you eternal happiness. Being able to be content with what you have is achievement. I believe my biggest achievement has been the enlightenment about accepting my life as it is. It gives so much satisfaction to see my family all hale and hearty, to see my son doing what he should be doing at his age, to be able to cope with the work, home and family responsibilities, to be able to realize that we are alive today to look at others and give them a warm smile and make their day. In true sense, this is the real achievement for me!!
- Define the true beauty.
Ans.I look at you, I admire you and I move on. You do something beautiful, I stop, I admire and I remember for the rest of my life. I believe this is the true beauty. Beauty which can affect someone's life, which can make a difference in someone's way of living, which can give a hope to a loosing heart. Beauty which is beyond the color and caste, rich and poor, old and young! Beauty which needs no definition and no makeover. It exists in everyone's heart and make us all beautiful in our own special ways.
- Do you consider yourself to be a giver or taker?
Ans.By nature, all the living beings on Earth are made to be both givers and takers and that is how the whole existence of life comes into effect. I am also a combination of both. Being a mother, I am designed to be a giver. There can not exist a mother who is not a giver. No matter how successful a woman is in her career, her life revolves around her family. Not because she is forced to, but because she knows her priorities and knows how to handle them all. Starting from the dawn till the dusk, a woman is on her toes to give her love, care and affection in various ways to her family. She is the single point of contact for everything at home. Only a giver can handle that. But, I am also a taker, we all are. We take so much from our surroundings, from the people around us. Taking experiences, knowledge, love, time, suggestions, blessings; makes me a taker too. I believe, if you do not take, there would come a saturation point when you would not be left with anything to give. To keep the balance, we need to be both, taker as well as a giver.
- What is your favourite Idea of Holidaying?
Ans.Holiday for me means a break from the routine life of work, cooking, cleaning, chores and all. I cherish my holidays and yearn for it as soon as am back from one. I generally prefer exquisite holidays in luxurious hotels accompanied with great food and shopping in the local markets. I sometimes prefer adventurous holidays with lots of action and happening. But, my favorite idea of holidaying is the one where I have ample time to read some good books, relaxing on a beach, sipping a mock tail. Where I do not have the list of to do things going on in my mind and I can just spend some leisure time with my family.
- Why you are participating in Mrs India Queen of Substance.
Ans.Having accomplished few things in life, life now became monotonous. I like to thrive on the challenges life presents and when it doesn't, I prefer to create my own and when few friends suggested this, I was game. This is a completely untouched arena for me and hence, there couldn't have been anything more exciting. And when you can also serve a purpose while chasing your dreams, its like an icing on the cake. Mrs India Queen of Substance provides a grand platform which can be utilized in many ways for the benefit of mankind. We all want to do something for the society, for the community, for our country but are unable to find the right way to do it. I believe, I can get that stage here where I can play the character of ambassador of peace, harmony, awareness and education; and this gives me immense inspiration and motivation to work towards winning the title.
- If you were given the chance to live again, what would it be?
Ans.I can not thank god enough for making me what I am and for giving me what I have. He didn't make my life a bed of roses but he made me capable of dealing with the thorns. He didn't spoon feed me always but he enabled me to feed others. What else can I ask for? I am too happy and content with what I am and if given a chance I would like to live the same life. I have lived just a part of my life most of which was lived as a dependent of parents. The time has now come, when I can live for others, when I have understood that if you do not change at least one life for the good, your life is wasted. I know what I want to do in the years ahead and am working towards it. For me, the rest of my life is a new life altogether which I can direct the way I want, project the way I want and live the way I want.
- The Quote or saying that encourages you?
Ans.“We are what our thoughts have made us; so take care about what you think. Words are secondary. Thoughts live; they travel far.” - Swami Vivekananda Feeding our brain is the easiest thing one can do but choosing what to feed, makes all the difference. I strongly believe, we become what we think. Though I do not agree completely with what Rhonda Byrne has written in her book “The Secret”, but I utterly echo the fact that it's all in the mind. When you think of something day and night, breathe it, live for it, you finally get it. The moment we start thinking, we start noticing the favorable opportunities in our surrounding and that's how this whole idea works. So think positive and experience positivity all around you.
- Many teenagers and youngsters are bullied worldwide for having .
Ans.I had read it somewhere “You can not make everyone happy”, so why try? Be yourself. We are what we are. What we have, others do not have and what others have, we do not have. It's a complete injustice to compare any two people. And who says that the most good looking people have been the most successful people? Michael Jackson, the world-famous singer, writer, dancer and actor wasn't a conventional good looking person. Sudha Chandran, one of the most popular and acclaimed classical dancer has a prosthetic leg. The count of such people is unlimited. Bring out the best in you, not for the world but for yourself. And you will see the world is behind you!
- If you were selected as a Charity Ambassador what Value addition would you like to do for our Society and how? Why do you think giving back to society is important?
Ans.There is so much scope to do in terms of improvement in our society that I would grab all the opportunities that would be feasible enough for me to work on. But I would certainly like to work on 2 things which can't skip my thoughts ever. One of them being the Organ Donation. In this era, when people are becoming aware about recycling of goods, it's an irony that they still hesitate when it comes to organ donation. When we understand the importance of recycling of newspapers and electrical devices, why don't we understand the importance of recycling of organs which can change someone's life? I strongly believe we need some serious measures in this arena to educate people about the importance of organ donation. Keeping in mind the population and the mortality rate in India, even if half of the people donated their eyes, there wouldn't be a single blind person very soon. Just imagining a world free of blind people gives such an immense pleasure, imagine how good it would feel if we saved a life when we died. Reading the newspapers everyday, disappoints me and scares me. The world has become dangerous for women and children. While a lot of people and organizations are working towards making the world a better place for women, I believe the charity starts at home. If we want our daughters to be safe, we need to teach our sons to guard them and not to take advantage of the opportunity. If we want our women to be respected, we need to teach our men to respect them. Only if, we had this mind set, this world would be a heaven. So it's not just the men, it's the women too who needs education in this area. We need to accept the fact that someone amongst us, if not raised properly can do the unexpected. So each one, teach one. All the mothers and fathers, groom your children and the rest will be taken care of.
